The Town of Manlius

TownLogo2Manlius New York is the town that houses the Manlius Historical Society where Clarisabeth did her internship. The town has 32,370 inhabitants according to the 2010 census. It is the third largest suburb of metropolitan Syracuse. The picture at the top of the page is a map to show where Manlius is located. Manlius is located within Onondaga county. The town consists of Manlius village, and the villages of Fayetteville and Minoa.


Manlius was first inhabited in 1790. Manlius is the name of several Romans, but it is not sure which one of them is being honored by naming the town Manlius. The Erie Canal had a great deal to do with the foundation of this town. The canal also was a main source of income for the town during its early development.

Today their are around 12,533 homes within the town limits, this is including the surrounding villages. Two homes are listed on the National Registrar for Historic Places. Also in the area is the Manlius Historical Society. Throughout the year the town also has events that go on. For example, Wicked Woods at Green Lakes, Santa’s workshop, and Pre-K activity classes among other events for all ages. The town has a nice view and a great deal of activities to take part in.
